Imagine an app that works like a safety pilot, only advising you when needed. Maybe you are in the mountains for the first time, unfamiliar with density altitude, high temps, or maybe just busy and forgot. Takeoff Genie will watch out for you, giving you advice on takeoff distance of your airplane, automatically adjusting for altitude, temperature, and more. By leveraging the data already available, plus data from the way you fly and your specific n-number, we help you make the best choices possible during that critical time before takeoff.
How Does IT Work?
We Learn From Your Takeoff Data
Takeoff Genie starts by using the position data in your iPad or iPhone to collect actual takeoff data, then aggregates that with history data from you and other pilots, adjusting for temperature, humidity, elevation, and wind. The app constantly refines the values it provides you with each one of your takeoffs, providing you more refined takeoff data as more and more takeoffs are completed.
We Fill In The Gaps With AI
Maybe you've taken off at sea level and 4000', but never in-between. Then the temperature is 20 degrees hotter than your normal takeoff environment. Takeoff Genie will use AI to adjust and predict how your aircraft will perform in this situation, eliminating your need to guess, interpolate, and try and calculate what will happen.
We Digitize Paper
Most general aviation aircraft flying today entered service before spreadsheets even existed. As a result many performance charts are just that, old charts from the 60s or 70s that lack the accuracy of today's digital data that commercial pilots have access to. Takeoff Genie digitizes this legacy data, allowing general aviation pilots to have access to the same information as commercial pilots, improving safety not only for them but for every other general aviation pilot.
We Are your Safety Pilot
Information that doesn't allow you to make a better choice is just entertainment. So Takeoff Genie only pushes information to you if it is relevant to your takeoff. For example, if your intended runway is 10,000' long and your predicted takeoff distance is 1600', the application will leave you alone. But if your takeoff distance is 4000' and your runway is only 5000' long, Takeoff Genie will notify you, advising of the potential risk.
We Don't Just Advise Takeoff Roll
Having a safe takeoff isn't just about clearing the end of the runway. Takeoff Genie analyzes wind data, then advises you which runway to depart from and what your headwind and crosswind components are.
